An All New Podcast
Coming 2024

Welcome to Things4Things:

The History Podcast Where Things Happen and Stuff Matters

We all live in a material world. It’s a world of things that feels like it shapes our here and
now. But here’s the thing (pun intended): that same world is powerfully shaped by the past, our pasts.
And those are the stories we are here to tell.  Whether it’s the things we use every day like socks, sinks, and spoons, or the stuff locked in museum cases and preserved in archives, all objects have a history hidden within them and a story to tell. Things, or material culture, can help us learn
about the ordinary women and men who don’t make it into the history books. They can
tell us new things about famous people, too. And because we all live in a material world
in which the past shapes our present, we bet they’ll tell you something about yourself
and your world. Each season will dive into a new theme, exploring our shared thing for things.

In “Season One: The Stuff of Revolution,” we talk about revolutionary things in the Age
of Atlantic Revolutions. We’ll take you from the United States and France to Haiti and beyond, starti
ng with the American Revolution in 1775 and moving into the nineteenth century. And along the way, we'll connect this past to our present.
These revolutions rocked the world and are still rocking it. In each episode, we’ll look at what it
means to be revolutionary, and how people use things to make revolution, past and present.
We can’t wait for you to listen to the show about stuff that's not stuffy !

"We live in material culture, depend upon it, take it for granted, and realize through it our grandest aspirations.” - Henry Glassie
